After working in the wine sales business for 20 odd years Adam Lowy decided to make the tradition to winemaker. Cloudsley is housed in a converted garage building on Victoria Road, just south of Highway 81. The location was chosen as it’s surrounded by well established, family owned vineyards with whom he has made long term arrangements to buy fruit. As a big lover of Burgundy, he only works with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The winery conversion is fairly new: the 2017 vintage is the first he made on his own site. He makes Cloudsley Cellars with his Assistant Winemaker, Matt Smith and employs the consultancy of the legendary oenologist Peter Gamble. His Twenty Mile Bench Pinot sources it’s fruit from the Wismer family’s Glen Elgin and Homestead vineyards. It’s full of red fruit, loads of raspberry, and tart cherry, a touch of of damp woodsiness, mineral and mild spices. Elegant and easy-drinking.
