Domaine de la Marinière 'La Peau de l'Ours' Chinon Cabernet Franc

The Domaine de la Marinière, situated in Panzoult on the eastern edge of Chinon, has been farmed by the Desbourdes family since 1965. Initially a true, polycultural farm, with animals and grains in addition to grapes, until Renaud decided to chase is passion for wine, converting the 15h property entirely. Today, Renaud’s son, Boris, has joined his father full-time, and is helping to take this traditional family domaine into the next generation, by making the transition to organics, certified in 2018. The ‘La Peut de l’Ours’ sources it’s fruit from a mix of old and young vines on gravel soils, with a fairly short maceration of 3 weeks. The result a a fresher, fruiter style of Cab Franc, full of red fruit, sweet tobacco, and only a hint of that green-pepper quality many expect from Cab.
