Fourth Wall Wines 'Meta' Gamay Noir
Grape: Gamay Noir
Region: Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
Fourth Wall Wines is the solo project from Joel Wilcox. In film and theatre, the ‘fourth wall’ is the invisible wall that separates the on-stage actor from the people watching. When a character ‘breaks the fourth wall,’ they leave the conversation with the other actors and speak directly to the audience. Having worked throughout the wine world which can often be a little…secretive, Joel wanted to create distinctive, singular wines, as transparently as possible. Currently, there is no ‘Fourth Wall Winery’ — Call it a ‘Virtual Negociant‘ that is able to happen because of the life long connections Joel has made is the biz. His Meta Gamay was made at Malivoire by Shiraz Mottiar and sources it’s fruit from 3 vineyards in Four Mile Creek, and 1 in Twenty Mile Bench. This wine is all strawberry, plum, and cherry Halls, a touch of smoke, and pepper pepper pepper, tidy structure on the palate. Drinks best while watching rock & roll documentaries.
