João Tavares de Pina 'Rufia' Branco de Curtimenta Skin Contact Field Blend
Grape: Encruzado, Siria, Bical, Cerceal Branco
Region: Dão DOC
Located in the Dão, overlooking the river of the same name, is a district formerly called "Terras de Tavares" or pioneer land. João's family estate, La Quinta Boavista, dates from 1650 following the great colonization. It is located at an altitude of 550 meters on soils of deep granite, quartz, clay and shale. A few years ago, João decided to rip out all of the old vines that were not typical of the region to replant some forty forgotten grape varieties that he is now trying to rehabilitate. These wines are called Rufia’ which means Badass, as João has a reputation in the wine scene for being a bit of a disruptor. These wines are intended to be playful and fun, and enjoyed young. This is a field blend of Encruzado, Siria, Bical, Cerceal Branco, that’s all salty dried apricots, persimmon, almond skin, and quince, amazing texture and acid.
