Robert Young Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Grape: (75%) Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc
Region: Alexander Valley, California
The story of Robert Young begins with family, and their deeply rooted connection to the land. Since 1858, six generations of the Youngs have lived and farmed their ranch in Alexander Valley. The first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in Alexander Valley, as well as propagate the now-famous Chardonnay Clone 17, Robert Young emerges as a leader in the California wine industry. In 1997, Fred Young founded the Robert Young Estate Winery with the blessing of his father and the help of his siblings JoAnn, Susan and Jim. They continue to live and work on the ranch, involving the next generations in the family business. The 2017 Cab also has the allowed 25% blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cab Franc, aged for 24 months in French oak, 40% New. Rich and powerful, this wine is full of chocolate coated cherries, pomegranate, black cherry, sweet tobacco, and a hint of torn mint. A plush, power house, this wine will continue develop and get even more bombastic, so drink now or save for a special occasion!
