Rockway Vineyards 'Alter Ego' Syrah
Grape: Syrah and Viognier
Region: Niagara Peninsula
Rockway's vineyards are located in the Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation in the Niagara Peninsula, with approximately 16 acres of Vineyards, as well as a big ol’ golf course, and and an antique wine museum. The wine is as classic co-ferment of Viognier and Syrah, destemmed, and barrel aged for 18 months. On the nose, earthy, floral and smoky, with loads of dark cherry, black raspberry, and white pepper, a touch of coffee and tobacco, and smooth tannins. Don’t let the fact that Rockway is a golf course first, winery second stop you from from loving this wine! Winemaker David Stasiuk’s really showed off his skill with this swan song.
