Maturana Wines 2018 Semillion Colchagua Valley, Chile 13.5% ABV
When you think of Chilean wines you probably think of big reds, so don’t be alarmed but this is skin contact Semillon! Maturana winemaker Jose Maturana is dedicated to making innovative, interesting expressions of heritage grape vareties that he feels don’t get enough love, and he couldn’t resist using this ninety-year-old Semillon. Twenty percent of this wine spends a wapping four and a half months fermenting with it’s skins, giving it beautiful body and texture that doesn’t come from alcohol. Intensely spicy and green, this wine is is gonna blow your mind!
Rachis & Derma 2019 Skin fermented Chardonnay, Beamsville Bench, Niagara, Canada 12% ABV
After a successful career in the audiovisual industry, Harold Thiel and his family founded Hidden Bench Estate Winery with the goal of producing Terroir-driven wines that could compete with with those of the old world. In 2017 Thiel decided it was time to have a bit of fun and hop on the natty train and launched the Rachis & Derma brand. This chardonnay was skin fermented and macerated for 45 days, and spent 6 months in neutral barrels, before being bottled with lees. This wine has body-ody-ody, and smells like an orange marmalade dream.

These days Adamo Estate Winery continues to put farming first, using organic and biodynamic practices and employs a kickass winemaker- BC born Shauna White! This floral, funky lil guy is 70% whole cluster and was fermented on it’s skins for 30 days before a slow, gentle pressing. Try enjoying this with a cheese board, it’ll change your life!
